Abstract

Swift evolves constantly, and while new big features like concurrency get most of the attention, the language also keeps refining in smaller, quieter ways. Some features often go unnoticed, yet they are the ones that can add clarity and a touch of delight to the everyday Swift code we write.

In this talk, we’ll explore some of these hidden gems, and look into small improvements that can be integrated into any project on any platform. I’ll share a collection of my favorite Swift techniques and language details that make code cleaner, or even faster, and easier to reason about.

Natalia Panferova, Director / Software Engineer @ Nil Coalescing

Natalia has been working in tech for over ten years, and most of her career has been dedicated to iOS development. She's worked in both small startups and large companies, and now she's focusing on her own projects at Nil Coalescing, a company she founded with her partner back in 2022. Right before that, she was part of the SwiftUI team at Apple, designing and building SwiftUI APIs.

She's very passionate about creating apps for Apple platforms and sharing her knowledge through her blog and books for Swift and SwiftUI developers. She lives in the South Island of New Zealand, and when she's not coding or writing, she loves going on nature walks with her partner and their two dogs.
